Our night at our new anchor spot was much more pleasant!

Today is the first day of being on our boat that we haven’t had a major project on our to-do list :)

We started off by doing a morning swim around the boat. The visibility was pretty poor but it was super refreshing to get in the water for a bit.

We took the dinghy ashore to a local lunch spot with Ollie and spent the afternoon getting some new pics with our new name, lounging, and prepping for our boat renaming ceremony!

In the boating and cruising world, whenever a boat’s name is changed, you have to perform a ceremony to appease Neptune and Poseidon. We gathered our supplies and headed to the bow of our boat-

  • $1 EC coin with the old name marked on it – we say a speech to remove the old name from the sea gods’ records, then toss the coin over the bow.

  • Lots of Prosecco – the sea gods need a lot of libations to be appeased!

  • A branch from land – this symbolizes safe return to all aboard to land.

It's hard to read, but I wrote "Windancer IV"

Mike did most of the speech (you can read it here), but the ending is something I added from a source I found online:

“Today we come to name this lady Saguaro, may she bring fair winds, safe passages, and good fortune to all who sail on her. We send her to sea to be cared for, and to care for the Waxman family. We ask the sailors of old and the mood of God that is the sea to accept Saguaro as her name, to help her through her passages, and allow her to return with her crew safely. ”
