This weekend we were the epitome of “weekend warriors” for our productivity level on our boat projects…
Took the bus to a hardware store for hot water heater parts and Mike was able to fix the leak. Still waiting for full repair to return it’s ability to heat.
Installed a navigation light on the dinghy – this helps us when we take the dinghy out after dark.
Several more trips to Island Water World (local boat supply store) – picked up boat-specific cleaning supplies and parts for our various projects.
Groomed Ollie – his toenails were out of control!
Finalized organization in the galley (kitchen).
Got our paddleboard covers delivered and set them up at the bow of the boat – we’re looking into storage options for more permanent outdoor storage. The custom covers from the local sailmaker will help to keep the paddleboard material protected from the sun.
Organized owner’s side hull, both guest berth, and outdoor lockers – it’s finally how we want it! We made sure to have the guest berth organization setup so that there’s plenty of storage for friends and family. *hint hint*
Organized our safety locker – this holds things we’d need in an emergency (parachute flares, flare gun, safety whistles, safety lights, backup satellite phone, backup VHF radio, backup antenna, bear mace, and handheld taser).
Checked that solar charge controls are working – these are located under the aft guest berth and give a reading of how well our solar panels and wind generator work to create power.
Visited a local vendor market at the marina – we were able to pick up some local jam, wine, and steaks. We also got signed up with Digicel, which will gives us additional internet support in Grenada and surrounding Caribbean (this will be helpful for our passage to St. Thomas, USVI).
Hung our U.S. flag – this is what signifies the origin port of each boat!
Took further steps to remove all traces of “Windancer IV” on the boat – this is an important first step for when we do our boat renaming ceremony (future post coming!).
Throughout everything, Ollie alternated between project support and project supervision!
On Saturday to took a nice sunset walk with Ollie along the other docks in Port Louis to see other peoples’ boats and try to meet fellow cruisers. There is a group staying in the marina called The ARC, which stands for the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers. The ARC organizes an annual trip across the Atlantic Ocean to various countries
On Sunday, we had some great family time over Zoom with the Waxmans for a virtual Hanukah celebration!!
With the progress we made on this weekend, we're so much closer to being ready to post a full tour :)
