Following our return to Hassel Island, Jesse and Patrick were able to come back out during the week to solve the electrical issues with our navigation instruments. It was an extensive project that took them almost 8 hours, but everything got tidied up and is back to working!
Since our battery and inverter upgrades, we've been able to appreciate a noticeable difference in our power reserve! So much so we decided to remove our very loud and obnoxious wind generator. A wind generator works on a simple principle - instead of using electricity to make wind, wind turbines use wind to make electricity and the wind turns the propeller-like blades of a turbine around a rotor, which spins a generator, which creates electricity. This was an ancillary source of power for us that we decided we no longer need! We were able to take down the stand and plan to repurpose the pole for a future project of mounting our internet antennas.
We ended our week catching up over Zoom with Brad and Jackie :)
